Background

The current body was established by a Deed of Declaration on 6 May 1968 and registered with the Charity Commission with a reference number 256206. The Oliver Borthwick Memorial Trust’s aim ‘to help the homeless’ describes its strategic objective.

Aims

Each year the Trustees invite applications from small but viable charities registered and operating in the UK to apply for a small grant which will help to make a significant contribution to the practical work of the charity.

The Oliver Borthwick Memorial Trust supports small charities whose annual income does not exceed £500,000, that work directly with homeless and vulnerable individuals. Applications are assessed for their strength in making a difference to homeless people. Key priorities include:

  • Health and wellbeing of individuals who are homeless or at risk of being made homeless
  • Developing individuals through skills development and increasing confidence
  • Enhancing the charity’s potential
  • Developing existing relationships
  • High level of need and demand demonstrated
